Art created for this year's art walk are tidbits of fascination, facilitated in paint.  You will see more dot art. Making dots is so much fun; I didn't get it out of my system! I wasn't finished with my train of thought last year, so I worked through some more concepts utilizing dots. I've painted an abstract work, a whimsical, expressive landscape, as well as a couple representational pieces. Three are my trademark works in pristine white wood frames. Wood is softer than metal and finishes off my "safe little worlds" beautifully.

I enjoy exploring the union of real and unreal. I've always loved surrealism, even before I knew what it was. As a youth, I painted places where real and unreal co-existed. Although much has changed, I still play with these opposing perspectives.

Exploring contrasting viewpoints like representational and abstracted, or organic form opposing geometric shapes, causes an unnatural tension. That unnatural tension is what I live with every day. I feel I am at home yet not at home. I am at rest, but perpetually striving. I feel confident, but melt with insecurities. I revel in the beauty of this world, but the hard things of humanity mar me.

What I know is that, it is in the light I see most clearly; the darkness will not overtake me.
